Heidts Superide II IFS for 1957 to 64 Ford Trucks
Heidts Automotive Group announced the availability of their industry-leading Superide II IFS front suspension system for 1957 to 1964 Ford pickup trucks. This new product essentially extends Heidts’ Superide II design to cover an even wider range of vehicles, with applications for Ford trucks now spanning 1948 to 1964 model years. Heidts also has a Superide II IFS application for 1953 to 1959 Chevrolet trucks.
“Hot rod trucks have always been an important part of the Heidts product offerings,” says Mike Hawley, Heidts Sales Manager. “This new application for the Superide II IFS now covers the early ‘wide cab” model Ford pickups that are gaining popularity with our dealers, builders and customers.”
NEW: Superide II IFS (Independent Front Suspension) for 1957 to 1964 Ford trucks
Using our the famous Mustang II-style dropped front spindle, the innovative Heidts Superide II design uses a front steer mounted rack & pinion unit and employes a steering geometry very similar to the Mustang II, which has proven to work very well on classic trucks.
The heavy-duty upper and lower control arms use threaded adjuster for precise wheel alignment. Regardless of how large a road bump the suspension is subjected to, the threaded adjuster will never slip or loose alignment. The geometry of the suspension provides a low, smooth and highly steerable ride with no bump-steer and a moderate level of anti-dive already incorporated into the design.
A large, robust single-piece main cross member makes the suspension system installation a breeze and eases engine installation. Combined with a full compliment of mounting hardware and thoroughly detailed instructions, the installation will be as smooth as the ride you’ll get with the Heidts Superide II suspension system.
According to Hawley, the ’57 to ’64 Ford pickup Superide II IFS is available for order now and that most orders ship within 48 hours. “There are some awesome hot rod truck builders out there and we are looking forward to working with them on building some cool Ford trucks around the Superide II fronts,” says Hawley.

Classic Instruments 1956 Ford F-100 Gauge Cluster Package
Classic Instruments now is offering “The Finishing Touch” for your 1956 Ford F-100. The package is an updated, complete replacement to the original gauges. We took the new 8-Stack fuel injection system and mounted it on a brand new Chevrolet performance ZZ383 then added a FAST EZ-EFI ECU and harness. The Dyno results where surprising with 430HP @ 5200 RPM & 475 ft. lbs. of torque @ 4300 RPM. More surprising was tight air fuel ratio reading which stayed between 13.3 & 13.6 throughout multiple pulls on the dyno. During pull number 2 the FAST system started learning and making self-adjustments which further enhanced the engine’s performance. This fuel injected ZZ383 is one of the most efficient performance small block Chevy engines in our stable. Do Hand Held Abrasive Blasters Work?
I’ve been wondering if the hand held Abrasive Blasters work well for small/quick projects. I end up doing little projects fairly often. I don’t have the space to leave a big blaster out ready to go as needed. I also don’t have the space in my garage for a cabinet style blaster. Last Sunday, I ran out to my local Tractor Supply and picked up their $20 hand held abrasive blaster and 20 pounds of 80 grit glass beads. I mostly want to clean up welded areas where the residue is left from the flux cored wire. Many times I wire brush these areas before paint. With the blaster, it took all of 30 seconds to clean the steel piece that I made. It was ready for primer that quick! I’m sold!!!
It would be expecting a lot of it if you wanted to strip a whole fender. It seems perfect for cleaning up small projects. It’s hard to believe the tool only costs $20, but it’s well worth it.
I picked up one from Tractor Supply, but many other companies offer these blasters.

To say the 15th Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio was hot is the understatement of the year. 100 degrees is hot in Ohio! Hot rodders braved the elements to do what they do best: Enjoy hot rodding! As in other years, there were thousands of impressive hot rods, muscle cars and of course, classic trucks of all varieties.
